The fifth PISA survey will take place in 2012. The IPN is a member of the international consortium. In PISA 2012, for the second time, the focus is on the survey of mathematical literacy as in PISA 2003.

At the moment, PISA 2012 is at the stage of item development for the field trial which will take place in 2011. In cooperation with the University of Kassel, IPN staff will develop both paper-pencil and computer-based items for the international mathematics test. If successful in the field trial, these items could be incorporated into the PISA item pool and then used in all of the countries participating in PISA 2012.

Once again, important results on the international comparison and the change in the competencies of students in Germany can be expected from this fifth PISA survey.

Together with the TUM-School of Education, Munich and the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF), Frankfurt, the IPN will coordinate the national surveys and assume responsibility for the national report.
